Perth Sailing Club ventured back out on to the River Tay this week for the first race of the season.

Spring sunshine greeted three boats as John Ferguson, Bill Inches and Audrey Robertson attempted to make a splash.

Bill took the first spot before club officials called time on the second race due to a lack of time and wind.

The Spring Series continued the following evening with four boats participating in a figure of eight course.

Weather conditions were overcast with an easterly force 2-3 wind.

John was this time celebrating victory in race one, while Hunter Williamson, Euan Macdonald and then Andrew Porteous followed in behind.

The same four took to the water for the second race just as the wind died down to a force two at the start.

The course was shortened to two rounds due to fading light as John crossed the line ahead of Hunter, with Andrew in third position.

Saturday saw the start of the short Kinnaird Series with eight boats in action.

A very light force one westerly breeze welcomed competitors as Euan’s RS Aero stormed into the lead to the first mark of a short triangular course.

The fleet started to drift towards the tail end of the race but Hunter remained on track to take top spot. He was followed by Peter Bevan in second and Euan in third position. Due to lack of wind there was no second race.

Eight boats splashed into the water for the penultimate race of the Kinnaird Series on Sunday.

Euan seized a lead early doors and held firm to take the win. Graham Keir clinched second, narrowly ahead of Peter.

Only five boats entered the final race of the day.

Euan and John were neck and neck heading into the latter stages but it was John who took the line first.
