These Saints are up for the battle Coach McCrindle on Sunday’s clash with Motherwell

- Matthew Gallagher

St Johnstone Women’s head coach Jason McCrindle insists his players hold no fear ahead of Sunday’s clash with Motherwell.

The Perth side, third in the current standings, have been flying high this week following a 4-2 home victory against Kilmarnock.

Rachel Todd, Hannah Clark and two own goals helped Saints to the three points in front of a bumper crowd at McDiarmid Park.

Now McCrindle is determined for his squad to replicate the performance when they hit the road to face the title favourites on Sunday.

He said: “Motherwell is going to be another tough one. They are top of the league and have a lot of top flight experience in their side.

“They are favourites for the league comfortably but if we can replicate Sunday’s performance then we will cause Motherwell problems.

“I hope that we go there full of confidence and with no fear.

“Sunday was as good as it is going to get because the girls were outstanding and remarkably professional.

“It highlights how good the squad is when they have the belief. They don’t know just how good they can be.

“I’m hoping that Sunday makes them aware of what they are capable of doing.”

Saints were certainly comfortable on Sunday against Kilmarnock with the first chance falling for Ellie May Cowie in the eighth minute.
