A man alleged to have tried to persuade a woman to go into bushes with him somewhere in the Gannochy/ Bridgend area of Perth is to contest the charge at a trial later this year.

Jason Roger Murray (47), whose address was given as a flat in the city’s High Street when he appeared from custody at Perth Sheriff Court last Friday (May 4), denied behaving in a threatening manner towards the woman at various locations the day beforehand.

It is alleged he approached the woman last Thursday (May 3) then followed her and repeatedly attempted to engage her in conversation along a route the charge said included places like Dupplin Brae, Annat Road, Murray Royal Hospital and Muirhall Road.

The same charge further alleges he also stood in front of her somewhere along the route to prevent her from walking away then asked her to go into some nearby bushes with him.

The single charge also alleges Murray, who was on bail at the time, then stood in front of a vehicle the woman entered in another attempt to prevent her from getting away. The court heard he was taken into custody shortly afterwards.

Claiming Murray was“a danger to women”depute fiscal Lisa Marshall opposed granting Murray bail again and he was remanded in custody.

He is due to stand trial on June 6 with an intermediate diet set for 17 May.
