First phase of development finished by PKC

- Ross Gardiner

The latest development of new Perth and Kinross Council homes has been completed at Clunie Road in Stanley.

The 10 new homes, delivered by development partner Muir Homes, are built to the highest standard. All windows and doors are double glazed and they are insulated well to keep tenants warm and reduce heating bills.

Phase One of the new development at Clunie Road, Stanley has delivered two two-storey, two bed mid terraces, four two-storey, three bed end terraces, two one-bed ground floor flats and two one-bed first floor flats and Phase Two of the Stanley development will see 10 more council homes built.

These houses are amongst many being built in the A9 village, which currently has 1600 residents, and planners have given the green light to large scale developments around the village, with the current LDP allowing for up to 280 houses to be built across five sites around the village.

The development was visited by housing and communities convener councillor Peter Barrett, vice-convener councillor Bob Brawn, Council Leader councillor Murray Lyle, local elected members and housing staff last week.

Cllr Barrett said: “Affordable social housing is at a premium in rural communities like Stanley so it’s fantastic to see the completion of this quality accommodation built by the Council. These properties will bring added vibrancy to the village and enhance the lives of all the tenants who live in the new homes.

All of these new properties have been built to the very highest standards in areas where there is an acute shortage of affordable housing for local people.

Councillor Brawn added: “Our tenants also consistently tell us that delivering new homes is also a high priority for them. Using some of the
