Desperate to meet Danny
Steve White Rena Ramsay receives her prize from Balhousie Care Group CEO A lucky resident from Balhousie’s Luncarty care home is preparing to meet Daniel O’Donnell this weekend, after penning a prize-winning poem.
Rena Ramsay poured her heart into her delightful rhyme,‘Danny’s Gal’in which she claimed to be the Irish singer’s biggest fan and confessed to having a “shrine”in her room.
Her prize, which was donated by Balhousie Care Group Chairman and founder, Tony Banks, is a once in a lifetime opportunity to attend this Friday’s concert at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh and meet her idol.
The competition, which was open to staff and residents across the Group’s 25 care homes, tasked entrants to get creative and write a short poem, detailing the impact that music has made on their lives, and what going to the concert would mean to them.
Rena is delighted to have won and will be accompanied to the concert by a member of staff.
She said:“I can’t believe it, I’m in shock! Since I have come into this home I have been treated like royalty.”
As part of their personcentred approach to care, Balhousie Care Group recognises the benefits that music can have within their homes. Staff help residents to create their own personalised playlists as well as hosting regular parties, concerts and singing cafes.
