Region marks Foster Care Fortnight

-

To mark Foster Care Fortnight, a number of information events will be held across Perth and Kinross.

Foster Care Fortnight, which runs from Monday, May 14, to Sunday, May 27, aims to highlight the opportunities available to people to make a difference to a young person’s life, and a drive to recruit more foster carers to Perth and Kinross Council.

Cllr Caroline Shiers, lifelong learning convener at the local authority, said: “As a council, we are definitely proud to support fostering. Foster Care Fortnight is a great chance to highlight the important role that our carers play year-round in helping children and young people to grow and flourish.

“Putting family-based care in the spotlight like this we also hope will encourage anyone who is interested in fostering, supported lodgings or adoption to contact us and find out more, and potentially begin their journey to become a carer with us.”

The first session will take place on Thursday, May 17, from 9.30am until 7.30pm in Perth Playhouse, followed by a session from 9am until 5.30pm in St John’s Shopping Centre in Perth from Wednesday, May 23, till Friday, May 25.

And on Saturday, May 26, the fostering team will be at Blackford Highland Games from 12.30pm until 4pm.

After the fortnight is over, two further information events will be held on Saturday, June 9, in Crieff Country Market from 10am until 4pm and at Kinross-shire Better Place to Live Fair in Kinross’Loch Leven Community Campus from 10am until 2pm.

And a drop-in event will be held on Tuesday, June 19, from 4pm until 7pm in Almondbank House on Perth’s Lewis Place.
