Thousands turned out to see more than 500 competitors from 32 countries, including as far away as Argentina, China and New Zealand come to the iconic palace to fight like real-life medieval knights.
And visitors would be forgiven for thinking they had stepped into a time machine, as the grounds of Scone Palace were decked out with a medieval encampment and a fighting arena called the “list”, as well as horses and children’s jousting.
The overall champions at the tournament were Quebec, who came away with an impressive three gold medals, one silver and one bronze.
And Team USA did well to see off previous world champions Ukraine to win the 16v16 group “buhurt” fight.
And when the Americans went to collect their medals, one knight’s girlfriend even got down on one knee in front of the adoring crowds to propose to her champion.
France came away with gold in the 10v10 buhurt and Ukraine won the 5v5 buhurt.
And there were even some female knights doing battle, with Quebec walking away with the 3v3 female The crowds enjoyed the action
