Mannus reflects on his great days in Scotland

All three have represente­d the club admirably and Saturday afternoon was their moment in the McDiarmid Park sunshine to bask in the appreciati­on.

Fans chanted and applauded the departing legends throughout the weekend’s Premiershi­p curtain-closer before they walked through the Perth exit for a final time.

Rounding off with a victory was the objective against a Ross County team whose time in the top-flight of Scottish football was brought to an end.

Their fate was ultimately sealed elsewhere but David Wotherspoo­n’s late stunner salvaged a point for Saints and added to the travelling supporters’ misery.

For goalkeeper Mannus, the clean sheet he desired wasn’t forthcomin­g due to a third-minute Craig Curran strike. But it failed to take the shine off a special Perth career.

He said: “It’s been an emotional week, knowing what was happening.

“I tried not to think about it too much. We were getting everything packed for moving so that took my mind off it a bit.

“I will miss the people. This very much feels like my home in Scotland. I’ve been here seven years and my son was born here.

“But we’re doing it for family reasons so it’s time to go back home I guess. It’s hard for us to move and the people make it hard by how nice they have been to us.
