Perth and Kinross Council’s wedding services have been given a chance to shine after being featured on the UK show Curvy Brides Boutique.

The team of registrars were approached by bride Rhiannon who had some unusual guests to bring along on her big day - a full camera crew.

The TLC show follows plus-size brides visiting Curves and Couture, the only wedding dress store in the UK that caters to bigger brides.

Based in Essex, owners Alison Law and Jo Cooke helped Rhiannon find the perfect dress for her wedding in Perth.

Registration services officer Hazel Lorimer said:“The registrars were delighted to accommodate this request, not only to make sure Rhiannon’s wedding plans could come together, but also to allow us the opportunity to show off the beautiful old council chambers and the city of Perth.

“Rhona was already a big fan of the show and quickly volunteered to take the ceremony.

“She tells me Mike and Rhiannon were a joy to work with in the lead up to their big day.

“It is always a pleasure and an honour to be part of our couples’ big day and having the cameras here just added to the buzz.

“On behalf of Perth and Kinross Council I would like to thank Mike and Rhiannon for choosing our registration team to look after their ceremony and wish them all the very best in their future together.”

The reception was held at the Grampian Hotel and owner Claire McFarlane was more than happy to accommodate the Curvy Brides team.

She said:“My husband and I have owned and run the Grampian Hotel for 11 years and I personally deal with all the weddings, from the booking right to the big day.

“Rhiannon and Mike had their wedding reception here and since the show is all about the dress, Rhiannon wanted to be filmed getting ready in the honeymoon suite before the wedding.

“The crew and presenters were great on the day itself and Rhiannon was a fantastic bride; very relaxed considering all that was going on and of course, she looked stunning. It was a totally different day.”
