Take your seat as grandstands shared
Stewart McNeish, Aberfeldy Show; John Steele, Aberfeldy Rotary; Douglas Craik, chairman of SSE grants panel; and Gordon Leighton, Aberfeldy Football Club Aberfeldy Show and Highland Gathering has come up with an ingenious way of sharing and co-operating with other local events to get year-round use out of new equipment purchased for the two-day showcase in August.
The show committee recently took delivery of two 50-seat grandstands which were bought with the assistance of a grant from SSE Griffin and Calliacher Wind Farm Community Fund.
Stewart McNeish, treasurer of Aberfeldy Show, explained how the portable sheltered seating will be a great community asset:“While they are the property of Aberfeldy Show, the Aberfeldy Football Club will store and use the grandstands for spectators throughout the football season.
“And Aberfeldy Rotary will also make use of them at the finish of the Highland Perthshire Marathon.”
Mr McNeish concluded:“We are delighted by all the possibilities the grandstands offer and Aberfeldy Show is extremely grateful to SSE and to the panel that approved the grant.”
Other events in Aberfeldy such as community events in the Town Square, where seating would be of benefit, will be able to borrow one or both grandstands at the discretion of the show committee.
