Revisit Bowie’s Golden Years in sound and vision

-

On Saturday an author will sign his latest historical novel in Aberfeldy.

There will be a book signing at the Watermill Bookshop by Angus MacDonald, the author of the impossible to put down wartime story, ‘Ardnish was home’.

Birlinn Ltd has just published the sequel, ‘We fought for Ardnish’, taking the fiction forward, with the hero of the first book’s son growing up to join the Lovat Scouts and then completing missions for the secret SOE corps.

Donald Angus meets a Cape Breton girl, another SOE agent and the pair are involved in undercover work for the war effort.

Until recently entrepreneur Angus MacDonald lived near Rannoch. He took up writing only in the last few years after a varied career in renewable energy, recycling and business publishing.

He set his books on Scotland’s west coast, scene of his childhood with much of the historical fact taken from stories recounted by his high-ranking army officer grandfather.

Having done the writing at his home of many years in Trinafour, west Perthshire, Angus moved back to the coast eight months ago.

He launches his book at the Watermill Bookshop, on Saturday, June 29 at 6.30pm. On Saturday, June 30, fans of David Bowie will get a chance to come out and enjoy ‘Bowie Experience – The Golden Years Tour’ .

It promises to be a breathtaking show staged at Perth Concert Hall, celebrating the music of the world’s greatest pop icon, the much missed David Bowie.

Bowie Experience has Laurence Knight as the man himself, a singer and musician who will amaze the audience with an astounding attention to detail in performing the special songs of Bowie’s golden years.

There is so much ‘70s and ‘80s fashion, style and attitude, as well as mesmerising musical sounds that can be directly attributed to David Bowie’s legacy.

“Whether you’re a music connoisseur or you just know a good song when you hear one, it’s probable that David Bowie has been part of your playlist at some point in your life,” said Knight.

“Having a career that spanned many decades, while remaining robust and creative, ensured David Bowie has been recognised as one of the most influential and radical artists to come out of the UK.”

The performance is a journey in sound and vision, a must see for all Bowie fans and even absolute beginners.

The show has been all over the UK in the last few months - Dublin, Bristol, and Guernsey just last week.

And now with this Saturday’s show in Perth, it will be time to turn up the volume on songs like Space Oddity, Starman, Fashion, Life on Mars, China Girl, Rebel Rebel, Golden Years, Modern Love, Let’s Dance and Heroes.
