Doo’cot­lose tolo­cal­ri­vals

Perth Doo’cot’s rise up the league ta­ble was stopped in its tracks on Satur­day as they lost to lo­cal ri­vals Forthill by 89 runs.

Bat­ting first and aided by a mus­cle in­jury to Perth pro Rizwan Ak­bar, For­farshire took ad­van­tage of an ex­cel­lent wicket to amass a healthy score of 236 for seven from their 45 overs.

Richard Ren­nie top scored with 98 sup­ported by 66 from Graeme Gar­den.

In re­ply, sev­eral Fair City bats­men were un­able to build a ma­jor in­nings.

The run chase faded as they were bowled out for 147 in 43 overs, Tyler Rid­der top scor­ing with 34.

But the sec­ond team se­cured a 38 run win against Freuchie at Doo’cot in a short­ened 25 over match.

Perth scored 148 for seven in their in­nings built around 53 from skip­per Gra­ham Fer­gu­son and a rapid 37 from Paddy Mur­ray.

Freuchie were fly­ing at 50 for no wicket in six overs but great spells from Nilesh Ahuja (four for seven) and Iain Chalmers (two for 16) turned the match on its head. The vis­i­tors were all out for 110 in the 24th over.

Doo’cot’s third team kept the win­ning feel­ing go­ing when they en­joyed a vic­tory against Com­rie on Sun­day. Com­rie set a to­tal of 108 in 30 overs. Scott McKen­zie scored 51 not out in re­ply with Harry Gow scor­ing 28 on his re­turn from in­jury. Innes Chalmers was 17 not out.

Mean­while, the sec­onds are through to the fi­nal of the 2 Coun­ties Cup af­ter a nar­row 12 run win over Mei­gle XI.

They won by 114 to 102 and await ei­ther Stoney­wood Dyce XI or Dundee High XI in the fi­nal at Doo’cot Park on Sun­day, July 22.

This week­end, Perth’s firsts en­ter­tain Stoney­wood on Satur­day be­fore Su­per Sun­day could wit­ness three games.

Again the first team are at home, this time in the CS Chal­lenge semi-fi­nal against For­res.

The 2nd XI and 3rd XI travel on league busi­ness to Stoney­wood and Breadal­bane re­spec­tively. LAT­EST RE­SULTS: 1st XI 147 all out (T Rid­der 34) lost to Forthill 236 for seven (R Ren­nie 98, K Khalil 3 for 59) by 89 runs. PDCC seven points, Forthill 25 points. 2nd XI 148 for seven ( G Fer­gu­son 53, P Mur­ray 37) bt Freuchie 110 all out (N Ahuja 4 for 7, I Chalmers 2 for 16) by 38 runs. 3rd XI 109 for two (S McKen­zie 51 no, H Gow 28) by Com­rie 108 all out (T Rehman 3 for 23, A Blair 2 for 16) by eight wick­ets. 2nd XI 114 all out (G Fer­gu­son 50) bt Mei­gle XI 102 for eight (A Hus­sain 3 for 13) by 12 runs.
