Lift­ing­prizes in­Coven­try

Pit­lochry Weightlift­ing Club mem­bers en­dured mixed for­tunes at the British Cham­pi­onships in Coven­try.

Rowan Mor­rogh Bernard was un­suc­cess­ful with her three at­tempts of 60kg in the snatch and was elim­i­nated from the 58kg class.

But there was bet­ter news in the British De­vel­op­ment com­pe­ti­tion when her younger sis­ter Rosie won a third British ti­tle. She scooped the 48kg un­der-13 class with per­sonal bests of 23kg in the snatch and 32kg in the clean and jerk for a 127 bid­dle points to­tal.

There was suc­cess in the 48kg U11 class with Eve Kemp win­ning her first British ti­tle - snatch­ing 23kg and jerk­ing 33kg for a 128 bid­dle points to­tal. All of these were per­sonal bests.

In the British Mas­ters Open, Alex Phillips won the sil­ver medal in the 94kg (55 to 59 years) class, with a 51kg snatch and a 72kg jerk for a 123kg to­tal.

Gill Mor­rogh Bernard, Rosie and Rowan’s mum, was sit­ting her level three ref­eree exam - and passed. Gill is now one level away from be­com­ing an in­ter­na­tional ref­eree.
