Craigie post office re-opens

- Rachel Clark

Craigie Post Office A Perth post office has reopened its doors after months of uncertainty.

Craigie Post Office was back up and running on Thursday, August 2.

Residents in the area had been left without a post office service for four months after the corner shop it is housed in closed unexpectedly.

Since the closure, those wanting to use the post office’s services have had to travel into the city centre to use the post office branch on the High Street.

Following on from the closure was months of speculation and rumours as to when it would reopen.

A spokesperson for Post Office Ltd confirmed:“We can confirm that Craigie Post Office reopened on Thursday, August 2 at 9am.

“Post office services are available seven days a week from 9am until 10pm Monday to Saturday and 10am until 10pm on Sunday.

“Customers can access a range of post office and mails services, including special delivery, local collect, home shopping returns and take advantage of a wide range of banking services including cash withdrawals, deposits and balance enquiries for customers of all the main UK banks.”

Speaking previously, Councillor Willie Wilson, who represents the Craigie area at Perth and Kinross Council, said he hopes this reopening will be for good.

The Lib Dem representative said: “It is tremendous news for the Craigie area.

“This pattern of closure and reopening is completely unacceptable and it is high time the Post Office and the local postmaster got their act together to resolve whatever issues there are and make sure that the residents of Craigie get the local post office service that they desire.”
