A popular Highland Perthshire hotel is now under new management after being sold in a multi-million pound deal.

The Pine Trees Hotel in Pitlochry, close to the River Tummel, has been sold through specialist business property adviser Christie and Co to Major James Barlow and his wife Anne, described as“local, experienced private operators” by the agent.

The Pine Trees is a valuable property portfolio, which includes the main hotel, coach house apartments and the gate house lodge, set in 10 acres of mature woodland and gardens.

The four-star hotel, which offers 20 en suite guest bedrooms, occupies a Victorian mansion.

Built in 1892, the main hotel building has undergone recent refurbishment.

The Pine Trees was privately owned and operated by Mr and Mrs Kerr. They built up an impressive and established business in the town, concentrating on the guests’ experience and regularly upgrading the property with a new breakfast buffet added last year.

The new owners, Major Barlow and his wife, are experienced in the sector, having previously owned and operated the Royal Ettrick Hotel in Edinburgh, which they sold in 2017.

Stuart Drysdale, director at Christie and Co, said:“It was a pleasure handling the sale of this impressive hotel and we wish the new owners every success.”

The hotel and residential property sold off at an asking price of £2.4million.
