Golf champs arrive
Golf fans from across Europe will descend on Perth and Kinross this week for the inaugural European Championships.
Part of the new multi-sports event being held in Glasgow and Berlin, the golf team event will take place at Gleneagles this week.
Practice rounds begin today, Tuesday, ahead of the action getting underway on Wednesday.
Players from 15 countries will compete for medals on behalf of their nations in the inaugural European Golf Team Championships at Gleneagles. Connor Syme, Catriona Matthew, Lee Slattery and Laura Davies are amongst some of the British golfers set to compete.
There will be individual competitions for men, women and also a mixed team event.
Visitors to the spectacle will also be welcomed with free golf lessons and an opportunity to watch trick shot artist Kevin Carpenter.
Former Ryder Cup star Paul Lawrie will be in attendance in his role as a Glasgow 2018 Ambassador.
Perthshire’s own Carly Booth is an ambassador for the event along with former Open champion Paul Lawrie
Free activities in the spectator village include a 10m long putt challenge, driving range activities, bunker challenges, six-hole putting course, lessons from PGA pros in the coaching nets, chance to play the 2019 Solheim Cup nine-hole pitch and
putt course, Kevin Carpenter Golf Show (August 8 and 9 only) and the chance to meet Paul Lawrie (August 10 only).
