Perth five take on The Devil o’ the Highlands

Bringing it home for the ladies - neither being strangers to the longer distances - were Caroline Ness in 12:17:18 and Margaret McIntosh in 12:29:12.

Elsewhere, two green vests travelled over to Mull to run the half-marathon.

Catriona Liddell finished in 1:52:30 and second FV40 with Stephanie Boyd crossing the line in a time of 2:16:29.

Taking a rest from long distance was Kevin Roger. He ran the latest in the Trail Buster Race Series at Balbirnie Park.

The trail race measured roughly 4.3 miles and Kevin came eighth in a time of 30:26.

Parkrun tourism continues to be popular with members involved at no fewer than nine events across Scotland, England and Northern Ireland.

At Ormeau parkrun in Northern Ireland, Ruth Johnson came home in first place in her age category in a time of 25:33.

Fiona Morrison travelled to Darlington South for her parkrun fix and completed the course in 35:34.

Karen Christine travelled to Aviemore - proving to be a popular destinatio­n - and finished in a time of 27:27.

Flying the Perth flag at Vogrie parkrun was Stewart Reid and he completed the test in 21:36 to claim 19th position.

Glasgow was another popular venue at the weekend as Amy Bryson ran Pollock in 25:29.

Scott Henderson was at Springburn and finished in a time of 21:42 and, completing the west coast trilogy, Mark Dunn clocked 18:45 at Victoria parkrun.

Competing at St Andrews were Kev Riddell, who was the second finisher in 17:40, and Gillian Edwards who was the fourth female finisher coming home in 21:58.

Rounding off the tourism was Stuart Neillands at Camperdown. He completed the undulating course in 24:24.

On home soil, 47 green vests took part in the Perth version this week with nine new personal bests.

First finisher in a time of 16:49 was Greig Simpson and he was followed by club member Mike McConnell in 17:24 and Richard Ward in 18:16.

Crossing the line first for the ladies was Lorraine McPherson in a time of 20:40.

Second home and with a new personal best was Gillian Smith in 22:39, closely followed by Sonjia Crow in 22:42.

Lenny Burnett in 19:22, Callum Maloney in 19:51 and Crawford Watson in 20:01 all clocked their fastest times yet.

Not to be outdone, Jim Brown in 23:41, Katrina Leese in 25:20, Claire McFarlane in 26:02 and Yvonne Bryson in 28:16 all celebrated personal bests.
