Perth Racecourse is gearing up for a sell out this weekend for the Summer Carnival meeting.

Taking place on Saturday, August 18, the weekend fixture continues to be a huge hit among racegoers, with this year’s carnival set to be bigger and better than ever.

With 90 per cent of tickets sold already, Perth Racecourse is expecting to draw in the biggest crowd of the season so far for.

Marking the last weekend meeting of the season, ahead of the Autumn Raceday and Glorious Finale in September, Perth will be bringing the party atmosphere to the scenic Scone track with a host of live entertainment as well as seven thrilling jump races.

Racegoers are invited to soak up the atmosphere from the centre course enclosure, where they can park cars and enjoy their own picnic or barbeque – right in the heart of the action. As well as an on site sports bar, there will also be a range of fun inflatables in the centre course for little racegoers to enjoy, with magicians also providing entertainment throughout the day.

Perth Racecourse chief executive, Hazel Peplinksi, said: “We’ve had an impressive 2018 at Perth so far, and the Summer Carnival sees us approach the end of the season in a buoyant mood. There’s a real demand for weekend racing, and we added a second Saturday fixture to our calendar earlier this year for this very reason, which was extremely well received.

“Our carnival raceday consistently attracts one of the biggest and liveliest crowds of the season and it looks like this year is going to be no exception, with tickets already selling fast. I would urge anyone looking to come racing next weekend to buy their tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.

“We’ve got a brilliant line up of quality racing, live music, entertainment and food and drink on offer – all we need now is the sunshine!”

In keeping with the carnival vibe, punters will be treated to live music on arrival from Rhytmn Wave, Perth’s local samba band who recently performed at Belladrum Festival, with sensational soul duo Shaka Loves You taking to the main stage to keep the party going after racing.

Back on the track, prize money for the Summer Carnival is up to an

Punters will be hoping for another sunny day on Saturday impressive £82,000, with £30,000 up for grabs in the feature Stone of Destiny Handicap Hurdle. Paying homage to Perth’s rich heritage, the trophy is an exact replica of the legendary stone, which was won last year by Donald McCain’s champion runner Dear Sire.

Doors for the Summer Carnival raceday open at 11.30am, with racegoers parking in the centre course enclosure advised to leave plenty of time of travel. The first race is scheduled for 1.55pm, with the last at 5.25pm.

Centre course enclosure tickets are priced at £20, Grandstand tickets are £25, and all under 18’s go free.
