SWIFTS BOUNCE BACK IN FOUR-GOAL STROLL

Gunnion was pleased with the response following last weekend’s disappointing draw with Edinburgh United.

“I was happy to get back to winning ways and scoring four in the process and keeping a clean sheet was pleasing,” Gunnion said.

“We were needing to increase our work rate and the players did that.

“I can’t recall us ever looking like we were up against it in the game so that is credit to the determination and attitude of the team.”

Swifts remain third in the Conference C standings and Gunnion will be challenging his players to maintain the work rate in the leadup to Christmas.

He said: “As the weather gets worse and the pitches become heavier, we will have to rely on work rate ahead of talent through the winter months.

“I’ve asked a lot of tough questions of the players this season in terms of their desire to be successful and so far they have stood up to most tasks.

“The squad is strong and we have been able to cope with a few injuries so far. However we were without Chris Anton and Jamie Reid on Saturday.

“Both are experienced players and we are hoping to bring both back in soon.

“Keith Dewar was back in the squad after some ankle trouble and again, we’ll hope to have him fully fit and pushing to get his starting place back soon.”
