Stoleaftershave

Perthshire Advertiser - - FRONT PAGE -

A Perth shoplifter helped himself to a £69 bottle of aftershave from a city centre store in the hope of selling it on to get money to buy drugs.

But 37-year-old Neil McGee, of Viewfield Place, was caught - and paid the penalty at Perth Sheriff Court.

He was given a community payback order, requiring him to perform 100 hours of unpaid work in the next three months.

He will also have to pay £69 compensation to Boots after admitting the theft of the item from their High Street outlet on September 23 this year. In addition, he will be supervised by a social worker for the next six months.

A solicitor for the accused said:“This offence was something of a wake-up call for him to tackle his addiction.”
