New initiative in January

-

A new initiative is taking place in Coupar Angus throughout January in a bid to beat the winter blues.

Free meals will be served three times a week from January 8 in a bid to help people living in food poverty and to promote social inclusion.

Every Tuesday and Thursday a free soup and cake lunch will be served from 11.30am to 1.30pm.

The‘Blues Busting’events will take place in the Y Hall on Union Street unless there is a large uptake, in which case they will take place in the Cycling Hub on Forfar Road.

One or two of the Tuesday lunches may also take place in St Anne’s Church Hall, also on Forfar Road.

And every Wednesday from 6pm to 7.15pm a two-course meal will be served in the Y Hall by youngsters from the Coupar Angus Youth Action Group (CAYAG) .

All are welcome and transport can be arranged for those who require it.

Businesses have been contracted to provide the food, including the Red House Hotel, Alison Jones from Alison’s Kitchen, the Burrelton Park Hotel and Balhousie Care Group.

Funding has been provided by the Scottish Government through the East Perthshire Action Partnership.
