NEWS Plans to create new student flats

-

Plans to create new student flats in Perth have been submitted to planning bosses.

James and Stephen Architects plan to create five student flats on a piece of unused land near Perth College UHI called‘Tulloch Hill’.

The proposal is for the flats to be designed to the standards required for multiple occupancy, and will include communal parking and a cycling store on the entrance level, and a lift to allow accessibility to the upper flats.

Should the plans be approved by Perth and Kinross Council, it would see a four storey block created on Tulloch Hill, to the north-west of Highbank House.

The design statement submitted alongside the planning application said:“Given the proximity to nearby Perth College UHI (approximately 15 minute walk), the proposals are for flatted accommodation that meet the requirements of Perth and Kinross’ houses in multiple occupancy design standards, with the aim that the flats will be occupied by students.

“As such, the development has been designed to accommodate between two and five students per‘flat’with shared bathroom facilities and a small tea prep kitchen.

“Within this layout, kitchen appliances (fridge, freezer, oven, hob) can be provided at a ratio of no more than 1:5 students, in line with the HMO guidelines.”

The planning application for the student flats will now be considered by planning bosses at Perth and Kinross Council.
