Hundreds leftwith nopower
Over 800 homes in Craigie were left without power on Saturday night.
Residents living in Perth’s Abbot Street, Young Street and Friar Street were plunged into darkness when their power failed just after 10pm on Saturday, January 5.
A spokesperson for SSE has since confirmed this was because of a faulty underground cable.
The power was re-routed and power was restored the same evening to the 828 households affected.
Power was restored to all three Craigie streets by 11.15pm the same night.
A spokesperson for SSE said: “There was a power cut on Young Street, Abbot Street and Friar Street. It went off at nine minutes past 10 and affected 828 customers in those three streets.
“We were able to re-route the network and the majority were back on by 10.49pm, half an hour afterwards. The final customers were back on by 11.15pm.”
The spokesperson continued: “Engineers said the power outage was caused by a fault in an underground cable. The system has since been re-routed so engineers can go in and dig up the cable.
“This has enabled people to get back on quickly and makes sure people are safe.”
