School house plans ditched

-

Plans to turn a former schoolhouse into a community centre have been dropped.

A planning application had been submitted to Perth and Kinross Council to turn the old schoolhouse in Glenfarg into a community centre and ancillary restaurant - however the developer has withdrawn the plans.

CedricWilkins submitted a proposal to transform Greenbank Road schoolhouse currently used for residential housing - into a community facility. It would including a number of open spaces, clubrooms and a cafe/ bistro.

The plans would have seen one of the downstairs bedrooms turned into a community lounge, and another turned into a community cafe.

The current lounge room on the ground floor would be turned into a kitchen and serving area.

And upstairs, two further bedrooms would have been transformed into clubrooms, with an office in a third upstairs bedroom of the old schoolhouse.

However, Anne Condliffe, the council’s interim development quality manager, has since accepted Mr Wilkins’withdrawal.

She wrote to him saying:“I write to advise that, as per your email dated December 12, this application has now been withdrawn.”
