Dental surgery expansion bid

-

A Perthshire dentist is hoping to expand his practice.

Dr Chris Barrowman, who runs Infinityblu Dental Care in Pitlochry, is hoping to expand his dental practice on the town’s Atholl Road.

He has submitted a planning application to Perth and Kinross Council for the practice, which occupies a former fruit and vegetable market.

The application states it is“to extend the existing dental practice, to provide additional surgeries and staff facilities, including flood mitigation”.

Currently there are three surgeries in the dental practice and two prep rooms.

The proposals would see an additional two surgeries created, along with a separate X-ray room. A new staff room with a kitchen and toilet would also be created in the extension.

Although the planning application included plans for flood mitigation, flood bosses say they do not think there is any “serious”concern for flooding on the site.

David Lynn, the council’s flood prevention officer, said:“Obviously as the planned extension falls with the active flood plain there is a degree of residual risk and also with the building be supported above the ground level this is not an ideal scenario, however these concerns would not cause me to object to the application on flooding grounds.”

The application will now be considered by planning officers.
