Jobs under threat as city suffers shop blow
Thorntons has been a favourite on Perth High Street for years
The Perth shop’s last day of trading will be Saturday, April 27.
A spokesperson for Ferrero, the marketing company for Thorntons, said: “Like any retailer, we are continuously reviewing our store estate to ensure we are in the locations that meet our customer needs.
“As a result of such a review, the decision was taken to close the store at Perth on April 27 2019.
“Currently, eight staff members are employed at the store and we are looking to find them other employment opportunities where possible.”
The spokesperson added: “Thorntons has been delighted to serve our many local customers over the years and we would encourage them to shop for their favourite Thorntons products at our Dundee store or online at www.thorntons. co.uk in the future.”
The news is the second piece of bad news for Perth city centre in the last week.
On Tuesday, the PA reported that Pizza Hut had shut its Scott Street outlet.
