Raiders tar­get top-end whisky

Po­lice are at­tempt­ing to trace thieves who made off with high-end whisky and cig­a­rettes dur­ing a raid at a shop in Cri­eff.

JL Gill on the Strath cap­i­tal’s West High Street was tar­geted some time be­tween 5.30pm on De­cem­ber 31 and 8.30am on Fri­day, Jan­uary 4.

A spokesper­son for Po­lice Scot­land said two 70cl bot­tles of 43 per cent Ma­callan 30-year-old Sherry Oak Whisky 2018 were taken.

The re­tail value was said to be £4750.

As well as the al­co­hol, four car­tons of Ben­son & Hedges Gold and Ben­son & Hedges Blue cig­a­rettes were also stolen.

The rep­re­sen­ta­tive for the na­tion­wide force said: “Po­lice are ap­peal­ing for witnesses and, in par­tic­u­lar, any­one who might have had such bot­tles of whisky sold on to them from De­cem­ber 31 on­wards.”
