Taxitest getsthe goahead
Perth and Kinross licensing committee convener Chris Ahern has welcomed the introduction of the Taxi and Private Hire Driver’s knowledge test.
The test will be administered to prove drivers know the layout of the roads and the latest law for carrying passengers.
Ahern says that it is the councils aim to “provide a first class taxi service” and it is a “major step forward” in the Fair City.
He said: “By introducing this test for new applications it is clear that we look to get drivers that know the area they are working in and also know the regulations and standards expected of drivers in Perth and Kinross.
“The proposal has been welcomed by the taxi trade and the customers of the taxi businesses.”
The test will initially be for new applications as it will allow the licensing manager to monitor the staff time and resources.
It may also then be rolled out in future for license renewals.
