Speedy start to the new year
Blairgowrie’s annual NewYear’s Day Fun Run and Walk attracted participants from across the region and Scotland.
In total, there were 245 competitors – nine short of the record of 254 set in 2013.
The men’s race was won by Billy Gibson from Dundee in a time of 20 minutes 55 seconds.
In second place was Mike Herron, also from Dundee, in a time of 21 minutes four seconds.
And in third place was Robert Harrison from Rattray, who finished in a time of 21 minutes 11 seconds – slightly quicker than his second place time last year.
In the ladies’race, the winner was Michelle Bruce, formerly Mackay, who completed the route in a time of 22 minutes and 47 seconds – a new best time for the category.
Second place went to Tracy Morgan, who runs with Forfar Road Runners and finished in 25 minutes and six seconds.
Dundee’s Kirsty Reynolds was third, crossing the line in 25 minutes 36 seconds.
The boys’race was dominated by the Lidstone brothers, both of whom run with Strathtay Harriers.
Daniel came home in first place in a time of 24 minutes 36 seconds, with David just 30 seconds behind him in second place.
The girls’race was won by Isla Carroll, who also runs with Strathtay Harriers and whose father Mike is a previous winner of the men’s race. Isla’s time was 26 minutes and 18 seconds.
