Council is Binn it to win it
Perth and Kinross Council hopes to attract more investment and employment in the area by signing a new deal with a local business.
The council and recycling giant Binn Group has signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen their joint working and engagement.
The memorandum of understanding aims to develop a more structured approach to discussions, coordination and promotion to attract further investment, research and employment opportunities to Binn Eco Park in Glenfarg.
Cllr Murray Lyle, leader of Perth and Kinross Council, said:“Signing a memorandum of understanding with the Binn Group is part of our work in developing our new Perth and Kinross offer.
“We are looking to engage positively with local landowners and developers to promote strategic sites and investment propositions.”
Binn Eco Park looks to grow the circular economy by focusing on waste management, renewable energy and eco-innovation.
The park is also one of 23 projects across the Tayside region to benefit from the Tay Cities Deal, a £300 million funding boost from both the UK and Scottish governments.
A total of £5.2m has gone to Cllr Murray Lyle, John MacGregor and Allan MacGregor sign the memorandum of understanding
Binn Group to support the development to build the world’s first advanced plastic processing facility.
Allan MacGregor, chief executive of Binn Group, said:“I am delighted to be signing this memorandum of understanding
and excited at the opportunities going forward for the Binn Group and Perth and Kinross.
“We anticipate this partnership will create high tech, high value employment opportunities throughout the region and further afield.”
