Expert advice at school sessions

-

A Perth music school is holding a spotlight session to help encourage others to pursue a career in the music industry.

The Echo Lab, set up by Perth College UHI graduates Charlotte Bibby and Kerr McCall, offers music tuition in Perth and has recently opened up its own music studio.

Previously, the pair held spotlight sessions on the art of drumming.

Following the success of this session, they are now holding a second session called ‘the touring musician’ on Wednesday, December 4.

It will be held at the brand new Bertha Park High School and those heading along will be able to learn from musicians Eddy Thrower and Cat Myers, as well as the team at The Echo Lab.

Charlotte said: “The Echo Lab is a creative music business, which provides bespoke music tuition, recording and mixing services - and is the brainchild of recent first-class honours music graduates, myself and Kerr McCall.

“We’ve recently expanded and have opened a brand new music studio in Perth, to give the opportunity to provide a space for musicians to come and release their inner creative.

“Our last sessions have focused on the drummer and the art of drumming with guests including Clem Burke (Blondie), Freddy Sheed (Lewis Capaldi and The Japanese House), Victoria Smith (Miles Kane and Soulwax) and Dave Major, throughout different occasions.

“We are hosting our ‘spotlight session’ event, aimed at musicians of all ages, with the outcome of inspiring and encouraging creatives to pursue a career in the music industry.

“The event will feature a panel of well known, high profile musicians including Eddy Thrower (Lower Than Atlantis, Busted) and Cat Myers (KT Tunstall, Mogwai) plus special guests and will provide insights into the music industry and its many career paths, including Q&A sessions.

“This is great for all musicians as the panel will include drummers, guitarists, violinists and more.”

The event will also be raising money for charity. A total of £1 from every ticket sale will be donated to Tiny Changes, a mental health charity started up in memory of Frightened Rabbit frontman Scott Hutchison.

The evening starts at Bertha Park High School at 6.30pm. Tickets cost £5 for adults and £3 for under 18s from theecholabmusicspotlightsession. eventbrite.co.uk or from www. theecholab.co.uk
