Help keep Tay clean on paddle

- ROBBIE CHALMERS

A paddle boarding experience with an environmental twist will be taking place in Highland Perthshire this summer.

Plastic Patrol will see volunteers take to the waters of the River Tay on May 9 to clean up litter.

The event starts at the Beyond Advernture base in Aberfeldy and will run from 10pm until noon.

All paddlers must be aged 16 or over.

Those looking to take part must download the Plastic Patrol app (via the App Store or Google Play) and create an account before the clean-up.

Wear loose, light clothing, or gym wear and wear suitable footwear such as trainers or non-slip shoes.

Participants need to arrive 15 minutes before their slot to register.

A spokesperson for the event said: “Want to try paddle boarding and do your bit to tackle plastic pollution?

“Join us on Plastic Patrol with Beyond Adventure on Saturday, May 9 for an epic session of paddle boarding and litter picking.

“Beyond Adventure, an official Plastic Patrol delivery partner, will show you paddling basics and provide a safety briefing before accessing the water.

“No experience is necessary.

“We’ll also supply all equipment - from paddle board, buoyancy aid, litter pick and bucket - all you need to do is turn up ready and willing to get stuck in.”

“Plastic Patrol operates on an entirely not for profit basis.

“Your donations are hugely appreciated and your contributions will be pumped back into running clean ups, gathering insights and supporting our other programmes to accelerate change and develop long term solutions for the future.”
