Business support events

-

Community-based enterprise support organisation GrowBiz has lined up a number of free events this month aimed at supporting entrepreneurs across rural Perthshire.

Some of the subjects that will be covered include how to price your product or service, trading on the High Street and using Twitter for business.

There will also be online learning sessions, covering topics such as managing your projects and tasks.

And there will be peer support sessions for care and wellbeing practitioners in Strathearn and those involved in the creative industries, which provide an opportunity to connect and network with others in similar fields.

As well as the learning and support sessions, GrowBiz will also be holding two Women’s Enterprise Network meetings, one in Kinross and one in Strathearn, and its monthly XChange networking event, which this month takes place in Kinross.

Merle Palmer, operations manager for GrowBiz, is looking forward to a busy month.

She said:“At GrowBiz we’re passionate about supporting small and micro-businesses, and helping them to grow. We aim to increase people’s capacity to be innovative and enterprising and to develop strong business networks where collaborations are possible.

“We have a busy month ahead in March covering a variety of topics and led by a number of experienced and engaging practitioners and speakers.”

Monday, March 16, from noon to 2pm, sees the first of two Women’s Enterprise Network meetings this month. Taking place at the Kirklands Hotel in Kinross, the speaker at this event will be Abigail Shepherd from The Perthshire Magazine.

GrowBiz Women’s Enterprise Network meetings are open to women of all ages who are starting or growing their own business in rural Perthshire. The events start with a light buffet, followed by an informal chance to meet other like-minded women and some of the GrowBiz team.

The Strathearn Women’s Enterprise Network will meet on Wednesday, March 18, from 6pm to 8.30pm at Auchterarder Bowling Club, when the speaker will be Trudy Duffy from Perth-based specialist patchwork and quilting shop The Peacock and the Tortoise.

Trudy will also be leading an in-person learning session on Monday, March 23, from 10am to noon, looking at the challenges and opportunities of trading on the High Street and how to incorporate online marketing or selling to complement a traditional shop. This session will take place at the GrowBiz headquarters in Coupar Angus.

Merle added:“It’s always good to take some time out from your business and learn from others – often just talking with others about your enterprise and what you want to achieve can spark an idea – and I am sure that these sessions will be of interest to many.”
