Egg-stra special gifts

-

Fishers Laundry gave an eggs-tremely generous donation of 130 Easter eggs to a variety of Perth good causes at the weekend with a little help from a Scottish political leader.

The eggs were delivered to the likes of Perth and Kinross Foodbank, Letham4All and North Inch and Muirton Community Council’s Give and Take boxes.

Councillor Peter Barrett and his wife Liz were on hand to help distribute the eggs.

Cllr Barrett joked:“I got a phone call from Willie Rennie asking if I could use 130 Easter eggs! I thought‘I like a bit of chocolate now and again but this is excessive’.”

The eggs had been stored at the Fishers Laundry unit in the Inveralmond Industrial Estate, which is currently closed during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Managers at Fishers, whose headquarters are in Cupar, Fife, were keen for the eggs to go to a good cause.

Leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats Mr Rennie MSP said:“I know

Peter and Liz have been volunteering at the Perth and Kinross Foodbank and have been working hard to support older people and vulnerable residents self-isolating.

“Fishers couldn’t distribute the eggs so I asked Peter and Liz to help.”

On Good Friday, the eggs were handed over by Fisher’s site manager Andy Mackay.

Twenty eggs went to the food bank while 25 went to the council’s activity centre at the North Inch Community Campus. The Barretts also passed on 42 in total to Letham4All as well as some to Perth Baptist Church and the Perth Christian Outreach Centre in Riggs Road.

Liz said.“We both want to thank Fishers for its generosity. We can’t praise the work that all the groups are doing in our community enough. The effort of the volunteers is just amazing.”

Scott Inglis, commercial director at Fishers Laundry, said: “Fishers is always happy to help out in the community.”
