A Masterchef finalist from Perthshire said her experience on the show was a “dream come true”.

Claire Fyfe (35) impressed judges throughout the show with her flavours, but just missed out on a place in the final three after last Thursday’s episode.

After a trip to Mauritius where Claire’s food was described as “brilliant” by the judges, she was able to cook with Albert Adria, widely regarded as the world’s greatest pastry chef.

However, in the final knock out challenge, her journey came to an end when her peach melba was not quite enough to see her into the next round, despite its flavours impressing judges

John Torode and Gregg Wallace.

But speaking to the PA over the weekend, former Glenalmond pupil Claire said she was philosophical about going out.

“I guess I’m one of those people whose glass is always half full,” she said.

“Don’t get me wrong, I would have loved to have been in the final three but look at [fellow finalists] Tom, Sandy and David, they’re absolutely amazing cooks.

“I believe in a bit of fate and it was my time to go - it is what it is.

“It was probably a bit more emotional watching it back because it brought back how much the experience has changed my life and it’s just been amazing to be a part of.

“It was sad to be out before the final hurdle but I feel very proud that I got there.”

During the show interior designer Claire was able to cook for over 100 people aboard a war ship, and even cooked for one of her heroes - Scottish chef Tom Kitchin.

It was an experience she will never forget.

She said: “Honestly, it’s funny because

I don’t really have the words [to describe it].

“It’s something I have always dreamed about and spoke about and I never in my wildest dreams thought I would even get on the show let alone become a finalist, so it’s just quite overwhelming.

“They really challenge you and they push you and you’re up against things that, honestly, you never thought in your life you would be in those situations, like cooking for someone I admire like Tom Kitchen.

“It was just a dream come true.”

You can still catch Masterchef on the BBC iPlayer now.
