Pipers brighten day for care home residents

-

Members of Perth and District Pipe Band are hoping to spread some cheer to older residents over the coming weeks.

Members of the band were due to perform at five locations outside care homes or near older residents yesterday.

They included Stewart McBain who was at Craigieknowes in Perth at 11.30am yesterday to give the residents a tune.

Other pipers were set to perform at Viewlands, Ochil and Glenhelenbank.

The band major Alastair Duthie was then going to get his pipes out for older residents living around the green in Pitcairngreen last night before heading to Luncarty House, where he has already performed a few times, this morning.

Alison Duthie from the band told the PA they hope to go to other homes around the region.

She added:“There’s a lot of older people who are quite down - they can’t go out and their family can’t come and see then.

“The feedback has been really good. They’re all sitting at the window and waving and on a nice day they can go out to the sitting area while still keeping their distance.

“It really brightens their day.”

The other pipers taking part yesterday were Reece and Jack Barr, Lewis Duncan and Katy Duthie.
