Tune in and join DJ George as he parties for CHAS
One of Scotland’s favourite DJs will play a live concert to help raise money for a Kinross-shire facility offering end of life care to young children.
George Bowie will perform a set on Facebook live today (April 24) to raise money for Children’s Hospices Across Scotland - better known as CHAS which runs Rachel House in Kinross.
The GBX DJ set comes hot on the heels of other DJs performing to raise much-needed funds for CHAS.
Father-of-three George (51) has already s beamed his club bangers into well over half a million homes since COVID-19 prompted widespread self-isolation last month.
He can usually be found packing out Ibiza clubs during the summer months and has raised money for CHAS in the past.
George said:“As a parent of three, I’m very aware of the amazing work CHAS does across Scotland and see this as an important time to back them.
“If I can get on the decks for an hour, raise some much-needed funds and bring some Friday afternoon cheer to everyone, then that’s a great thing.
“Come along, enjoy the tunes, and support this amazing charity if you can.
“Any donation you can make would be greatly appreciated.”
Rachel Gedge, CHAS community fundraiser, said:“We are so pleased that George has stepped up, along with various other DJs around Scotland, to fundraise for us at this particularly difficult time.
“It’s a huge morale boost for us and for the families we support.
“Fundraisers like this one mean we can keep supporting families who need us now more than ever.”
Fans can tune in to George’s daytime performance at 3pm on Friday, April 24 at https://www.facebook.com/ gbxanthems. A JustGiving page for any donations is at https://www. justgiving.com/fundraising/ georgebowiegig
Like many other charities in the current pandemic, CHAS has had to dramatically transform the way it provides its increasingly important services.
It set up Scotland’s first ever virtual hospice to support children and families who are having to completely self-isolate.
CHAS has also launched its Share the Joy campaign, asking Scots to show their support for children with life- shortening conditions as the coronavirus crisis continues.
The campaign encourages supporters to demonstrate what brings them joy in this challenging time and sharing via social media or uploading to the CHAS website.
This could be through drawing a picture, creating a video, recording a message or simply writing a few lines of support which will be shared with children and families who might be feeling isolated.
Go to chas.org.uk/joy to share your message of joy or share your joy on social media using the hashtag #ShareYourJoy and tag @ supportCHAS.
