Senda smileto ourkey workers

- KATHRYN ANDERSON

Perth and Kinross Association of Voluntary Service (PKAVS) has launched a ‘Send a Smile’ service.

The service is calling on residents to send thank you cards, pictures and messages of support to key workers.

Over the past few weeks, many residents have displayed rainbows in their windows and on their bins to show their support for key workers risking their lives on the front line during the COVID-19 outbreak.

And every Thursday evening thousands of people stand on their doorsteps to clap for carers.

But PKAVS was aware that the people of Perth and Kinross were keen to do more.

A spokesperson said: “We are all very aware of how terrific a contribution our key workers are making during the Covid-19 crisis.

“Dealing with the 1000+ volunteer enquiries, we are also only too aware that people and communities across Perth and Kinross want to help, get involved and do their bit. We have launched #SendaSmile to combine those efforts.

“We are asking for people to send us their thank you cards, pictures and messages of support for us to distribute to key workers and overlooked services.

“Conscious of the need to be inclusive, we have created a PKAVS Freepost account for this purpose. All people need to do is pop their picture in an envelope stating FREEPOST – PKAVS. No address or stamp required. We will then get these sorted and distributed.

“Lets bring some positivity to these bleak times.”
