House of Bruar defends photo shoot in glen
The House of Bruar has defended its decision to hold a photo shoot at the weekend after criticism from residents.
Three vehicles were seen going up Glen Tilt on Saturday, where pictures were taken to advertise the luxury department store’s online catalogue.
Over the weekend there was concern expressed on social media that the company was pressing ahead with its commercial activities and had brought a photography crew in from outside the area.
There were public comments that House of Bruar acted as though it was above the virus reduction guidelines.
But the company’s owner, Patrick Birkbeck responded on Monday, saying:“On Saturday (May 16), we conducted a photo shoot up Glen Tilt for our online business.
“Ordinarily these photographs would have been completed earlier in the year, but that has not been possible.
“We observed all the guidelines for social distancing within the team and also chose to go outside into a remote glen, so that it is easier to maintain distance between a team, which is much smaller than normal.”
SNP councillor for Highland Ward Mike Williamson commented:“In these unprecedented times, it is important that we all act appropriately and in line with Scottish Government guidelines.
“To that end, I am hopeful that businesses across Perthshire will reflect carefully upon their responsibilities and act in a manner that is conducive to our collective efforts to tackle COVID-19.”
