There are less than two weeks to go until a whisky festival for Highland Perthshire is held online.
The‘Self Isolation Festival’- organised by Ewan McIlwraith and Sandy Fraser - goes live on Saturday, May 30 with whisky masterclasses from seven distillers.
When someone registers at www. robertsonsofpitlochry. com they can watch the whole day free of charge or, if they wish to take part in the‘masterclasses’, they purchase the tasting kits ahead of time so the pack of miniature bottles arrive with them ahead of May 30.
The brands representing Scotland’s unique malt flavours will be: Dewar’s, Tullibardine, Lindores Abbey, Glen Allachie plus independent bottlings held at Robertson’s of Pitlochry, the dedicated shop run by expert Ewan McIlwraith.
Joining the festival from Melbourne, Australia will be Starward Distillery and Buffalo Trace Distillery in Kentucky, America will also be part of the tasting focus.
The whisky masterclasses will be interspersed with whisky-related entertainment which will include a one-to-one discussion with Tony Reeman-Clark, founder of Strathearn Distillery, two mixology sessions and a whisky related quiz offering bottles of the expressions featured as prizes.
Musical entertainment will be provided by two local musicians and there will be a prize draw for all of those who purchased one of the masterclass experiences.
The Self Isolation Festival will be donating £5 from every tasting kit sold to‘The Tayside Health Fund COVID-19’to support initiatives which will provide much-needed comfort to patients, staff and volunteers and to fund important medical research linked specifically to the pandemic.
More money for this is being added through the www. justgiving.com page,‘The Tayside Health Fund COVID-19’.
