Residents in Perth and Kinross struggling with hearing loss are being reminded they can received support from Action on Hearing Loss Scotland, in partnership with VisionPK.

Whilst the charity is currently unable to hold its community hearing support service in local venues, it is running a hearing aid battery service by post and offering information and support to local hearing aid users.

Action on Hearing Loss Scotland’s Rhona Campbell said: “We want to offer as much support as we can to local NHS hearing aid users in what is a difficult time for everyone.

“Whilst it’s not currently possible to run our face-to-face service, we do want to try and make sure that people with hearing loss can access support from us so that they can enjoy conversations with family and friends by telephone and internet.

“One gentleman, who lives in rural Errol, is currently self-isolating got in touch as he was running out of batteries and knew he wouldn’t be able to hear phone calls from his son and daughter in England.

“I sent out two packs of hearing aid batteries, and he got back in touch saying how he could hear the calls now and didn’t need to worry any more as he knew I could post more out when he needed them.

“If anyone needs batteries for their NHS hearing aid or requires information on hearing loss, please do get in touch.”

Gwenn McCreath, chief executive of VisionPK Perth and Kinross Sensory Services, added: “Whilst our Perth office is currently closed, we are taking calls as usual from 9am4pm on weekdays and would encourage people to call for help and support.”

Anyone looking for support can email Rhona.Campbell@visionpk.org.uk or call or text 07387 100893.
