Wildlife learning
Perthshire residents are being urged to learn about invasive non-native species from home during lockdown.
The Scottish Invasive Species Initiative (SISI) has launched Alien Detectives, a fun and educational online resource to help the young, and not so young, learn more about non-native invasive species.
Some introduced plant and animal species - like Japanese knotweed or the American mink - can have a major impact on the environment and native wildlife and are responsible for significant biodiversity loss in Scotland and across the world.
Although primarily aimed at young people, anyone with an interest in the environment or invasive species can enjoy the resources.
Participants who go to www. invasivespecies.scot/alien-detectives can try quizzes, top trumps, pictograms and wordsearches and there is also a certificate for those who have earned the sought-after status of‘Alien Detective’.
