Addition to village will save lives
Residents in Blairingone can now utilize a potentially life-saving defibrillator in the village following a number of vital donations.
The contributions were made after local Ian Cook, a process technician who has worked seven years at the ExxonMobil Fife Ethylene Plant (FEP), and his wife Judie, spoke to first responders and members of the community council about the need for the vital equipment in their village.
“We thought a defibrillator would be good to have because the village is quite remote and a lot of the 100 or so residents are older,”said Ian.
“My wife contacted the British Heart Foundation who agreed to pay half the cost and, after submitting a funding application, my employers agreed to pay for the rest.
“Judie and I bought the cabinet and two local tradesmen installed it on the wall of our house which is protected by CCTV.
“Local laird John Stewart also made a contribution towards the installation.
“It gives us all a bit of peace of mind that it is there if it needs to be used, and we want to thank everyone who made it possible.”
