Repair work closes mountain path
Walkers are being warned of essential repair work on a mountain path at Schiehallion.
The path will be closed for two days, which are expected to be July 20 and 27, although this is dependent on the weather.
A helicopter lift will bring stone into the site, which will be used to build steps and drainage features.
Meanwhile, work on the low-level Foss Loop easy access path is expected to wind up today. The path closed on Wednesday for three days.
There is a diversion in place for the main Schiehallion path, through a field and along a hill track.
Maps and diversion signs are in place but parking spaces at the Braes of Foss car park will be reduced.
Liz Auty from the John Muir Trust said: “It is unfortunate that these repairs are coming just as we’re expecting a few more visitors as lockdown eases.
“Our aim is to make the new Foss Loop path safe as soon as possible with the minimum of disruption.”
