Reel brainwave at rotary club

-

Members of a Perthshire Rotary club went fishing to perform their handover ahead of the new session.

With social distancing rules still in place, The Rotary Club of Perth, Kinnoull held a ceremony with a difference.

Outgoing president Ian E Brown came up with the idea of a fishing rod to hand over his chain of office to Chris Kirk, the new president.

Chris, a keen fisher, duly accepted the chain in the gardens of the secretary’s house.

He in turn presented Brian Johnston with his senior vice president’s chain of office.

The Rotary Club of Perth Kinnoull members have been meeting on a regular basis via Zoom, which has proved highly popular throughout lockdown, and were able to watch the handover ceremony as a video presentation.

The club also welcomed new assistant district governor Sandy

Farquharson who congratulated the members in the number and variety of activities and projects in which they were involved in.

He also praised the imaginative approach to the evening, especially the handover.
