New crossing to be installed
Work was due to get underway yesterday (Monday) to install a new toucan crossing in Perth.
The crossing on Charlotte Street is part of the Spaces for People programme to help with social distancing on streets across the region. Work is expected to last three weeks. A council spokesperson said the new crossing would “aid the movement of pedestrians and cyclists between the North Inch and the city centre”.
The added: “Installation will start on Monday, July 13 for three weeks under two-way temporary traffic lights with temporary pedestrian crossings.
“During the installation, we will be working with the contractor to control the traffic signals in and around the city centre area to help minimise disruption.”
