Dentists can now see some patients

-

Dentists across Perth and Kinross are now moving onto the next stage of reintroducing routine NHS care.

From Monday, July 13 dentists will be able to provide any routine dental care that does not involve the dental drill or aerosols.

This means that dentists will be able to carry out procedures such as check ups, hand scaling and giving advice.

However, they will be unable to provide care that would require the dental drill to be used such as fillings, root canal treatments, crowns or veneers.

The region’s dentists are still severely restricted in the treatments they can offer residents and, unless they are in pain or have an urgent dental need, patients should wait for their dentist to contact them regarding routine exams or care in the normal way.

An NHS spokesperson said:“Staff and patient safety remain a priority and your own dentist will continue to work with NHS Tayside Urgent Dental Care Centres to ensure that patients can safely access the services they need.”
