A Highland Perthshire hotel is set to undergo a major refurbishment which will keep it closed until next spring.

The announcement comes after the Loch Rannoch Hotel was recently sold by Macdonald Hotels to private operator Loch Rannoch Estate Limited for an undisclosed sum.

The new owners are planning to keep the hotel closed until they have completed the renovations and expect to welcome back the public for Easter 2021.

For Highland-based hotelier Nick Pattie, a director of Loch Rannoch Estate Limited, it marks a return to overseeing the management of the hotel after more than three decades.

He said: “We are extremely excited by the opportunity to renovate the hotel and modernise and extend the facilities at Loch Rannoch for the benefit of our hotel guests, local residents, lodge owners and many regular customers.”

The hotel has 48 bedrooms, two restaurants, a bar, function facilities and sports and leisure facilities, and sits within the Loch Rannoch Estate with views down the loch.

Gordon Fraser, group managing director of Macdonald Hotels, said: “The Loch Rannoch Hotel has been a favourite destination for Scots and international visitors alike for many years.

“We are pleased to have reached agreement on a deal which will see it continue to welcome guests from all over the world for many years to come.”
