Help to pay council tax bills

-

Perth and Kinross Council is set to send out letters to everyone who has not paid their council tax bill, and is offering alternative arrangements to help people settle their bill.

The council says it “appreciates this is a difficult time,” with coronavirus, having a significant impact on the economy and people’s financial circumstances.

Residents whose financial circumstances have changed since they received their council tax bill and are now having trouble paying their instalments, should contact local taxes on 01738 477430 (option three) or email localtaxes@pkc.gov.uk as soon as possible to discuss setting up a payment arrangement.

The council can agree alternative arrangements that will take account of personal circumstances.

Chief executive of Perth and Kinross Council Karen Reid commented: “We know this is a difficult time for many people in Perth and Kinross.

“Most people are continuing to pay their council tax, helping us to deliver essential services. But if you are having difficulty, we’re here to help – please get in touch.”

The council’s welfare rights team may also be able to help people who are having difficulty paying other bills or who are worried about their finances due to COVID-19. Further information is available on the council’s website www.pkc.gov.uk/welfarerights or by emailing welfarerights@pkc.gov.uk
