Vintage and retro shop offering private appointments
A shop in Perth has offered customers the chance to make a private appointment so they can come in to look around without other customers being there.
Underneath the Arches, a vintage and retro furniture shop on Princes Street, reopened last week but to help customers enjoy a browse, owner Lou Shaw is taking appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays so she can lock the door and give pre-booked customers the run of the shop.
Lou has been at the premises in Perth for six years and before that had Kit and Caboodle in Newburgh.
“This year was already proving hard when we had those storms in February on back-to-back weekends. Perth was deserted with that fierce weather.
“In March it was just beginning to pick up and I did a big buy of stock, then COVID-19 hit everybody.
“Without the small business grant I would not be here now.”
She has been selling through social media but with the shop door open, and has had to adjust her business to new guidelines.
“We are open seven days a week and limit the number inside at any one time to six people.
“There’s hand sanitiser at the door and we encourage customers from handling the stock unless they are definitely planning to buy.
“Bulky items in a shop like mine makes spacing people apart and one way systems a bit of a challenge.
“I wanted to provide something more for my loyal customers, hence offering to be open just for them.
“Local support is vital to keeping the business afloat in this pandemic.
“My booked appointment idea could be useful for people who don’t want to have to worry about distancing from other customers.”
Appointments on Tuesdays and
Thursdays can be booked on 01738 245869.
Underneath The Arches is open Monday-Saturday 10.30am-4pm, closed on Wednesday and 12.30pm4pm Sundays.
